This late 18th or early 19th century antique Naval officer's dirk retains its' original brass mounted two-ring leather scabbard. More important is the unique 'coiled snake or serpent' pommel. The double edged 8" blade has been cleaned leaving no original finish. The ivory handle has beautiful color and patina but does have the typical small old age crack. Despite the above, the coiled serpent pommel makes this a very rare and collectable dirk.
