A Magnificent Early 19th Century Painted China Trade Trunk Circa 1830

This pigskin covered campforwood trunk dates to circa 1830 and comes from China. The trunk is painted on the top, both sides and the front with scenes from the life of an important Chinese nobleman, perhaps royalty. The colors are rich and fibrant after nearly 200 years. The trunk is also decorated with brass corners and brass tacks and stands on later painted turned feet. This is the best trunk of its kind that I have ever seen.
