The 36 star flag became the official United States flag on July 4, 1865, only a few months after the assassination of President Lincoln. A star was added for the admission of Nevada on October 31, 1864 and was to last for only two years. The only President to serve under this flag was Andrew Johnson (1865-1869). With the frame the measurements are 16 1/2" by 23". The linen flag is faded in places but is otherwise in good condition.
