A RARE Northern European Carved Wooden Beer Jug circa 1800-1820

This amazing piece of carving is absolutely exquisite. The decorative hinged lid has a sliding locking pin and is carved with wheat sheaves and pine nuts with a standing lion. The body is made up of alternating bands of exotic woods with four brass straps. The spout terminates in a fabulous carved lions' head. I believe the primary wood used is boxwood.
