A fine Chinese Porcelain tea cup and saucer circa 1723 salvaged from the CA MAU SHIPWRECK

SOLD

Discovered off the coast of Vietnam in 1998, this fine porcelain cup and saucer date to the Yongzheng Period of China's Qing Dynasty circa 1723. The Ca Mau vessel was a Chinese junk bound for Indonesia. Archaeologists have discerned that the final hours of the Ca Mau were spent ablaze, as the crew failed to control the fire on the ships deck. She finally sank thirty nautical miles off the Ca Mau peninsula in southern Vietnam. Sotheby's cataloged each piece and both the cup and saucer have the original identification stickers on them. Ceramics from the Ca Mau shipwreck can now be found on display in the worlds top museums and nearly identical examples can be seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The cup measures 2 3/4" in diameter and the saucer measures 4 3/8" in diameter and both are in near mint condition with no chips or cracks.
