A fantastic Prisoner-of-War STYLE Bone and wood model,circa 1920, of a late 18th century 74 gun English Ship-of-the line

SOLD

This absolutely wonderful Prisoner of War style bone and wood model of a 74 gun English 3rd rate ship of the line was made circa 1920. It is highly detailed and has an ivory stern gallery with gilt decoration as well as an ivory figurehead depicting a Roman Warrior (possibly meant to be King George III). There is even a ship's bell mounted on the deck. On top of all this, there is a lever on the wooden base which allows the guns to be run out of the gun ports!! The rigging is the finest I have seen on a bone ship model and is a testament to the skill and knowledge of the builder of this fine model. Height 21", length 25", width 8".
