A Late 19th Century Cased Waterline Model of the Steamship "PARIS" Circa 1890

The 'City of Paris' was built in 1889 in Scotland for the prestigious Inman Line. She was one of the first three ships to arrive with immigrants on the first day of operation of Ellis Island in 1892. The Paris was one of the last commercial ocean liners to carry sail. During World War I she functioned as a U.S. Navy armed transport. She was later rechristened the "PHILADELPHIA" and on a voyage in 1922 a mutiny broke out climaxing in an attempt to sink the ship. She was broken up the following year. Length: 39" Height: 18"
