A RARE mid 19th century highly detailed sailor-made model of the 96 gun British warship HMS Asia, circa 1840-1850.

SOLD

This wonderful highly detailed sailor made model dating to circa 1830-1840 has its' hull carved from the solid with guns protruding from the gun ports. A slightly outsized carved bust length male figurehead also adornes the model. NOTE: H M S Asia was launched in 1824. Admiral Codrington used this ship as his flagship during the Battle of Navarino. Length: 22"
