A ship's figurehead "style" carving

Possibly 19th century, this figurehead "style" carving shows no signs as to ever having been mounted as a figurehead. The wood is quite weathered giving the appearance of being from the 19th century but I am not certain of that. All I can say is that this a wonderful piece of carving no matter when or where is was made.
