This model represents a typical whaleboat of the late 19th century. In addition to carrying 6 men, each whaleboat carried a prodigious amount of gear which has been accurately depicted in this wonderful model including 6 oars, 6 paddles, 2 whaleline tubs, 3-6 harpoons, 3-6 lances, 1 boat hook, 1 cutting spade, 1 towing toggle, 1 grappling hook, 1 hatchet, 2 knives, 1 fresh water cask, 1 lantern keg, 1 small bucket and a boxed compass.
