This rare collection of WWII Naval memorabilia consists of the original 50" commissioning pennant for the U.S.S. Cowie, a Gleaves-class destroyer, launched by the Boston Navy Yard in September 1941. Along with the pennant is an engraved sterling silver box inscribed "From the Officers of U.S.S. Cowie August 1943," a woven patch and three WWII medals including good conduct. This ship saw action off of North Africa from 1942 to 1943, Sicily in 1943, and other naval action in 1944 and 1945. Further research may result in finding out to whom these historical objects belonged to.
