This large (22 1/2" diameter) charger appears to have the arms of the Forrester family on them. The first man with that name was one of the original Jamestown settlers who came over in 1609 and survived. Records indicate that he went back to England only to return to Virginia in the 1640's to become a large landowner. This particular charger dates to the end of the 17th century therefore having been owned by a decendent. Regardless of the historical background on this charger, it is a rarity and worthy of any museum quality collection.
