A 19th century Oil Painting depicting a South Seas Whaling scene circa 1875

Retaining what appears to be its' original carved walnut frame, this oil on canvas depicts a whaling hunt with several whale boats and their crews converging on a spouting whale. There are two very old and small repairs visible on the back of the canvas. The size of the frame measures 14" by 15 3/4".
