A Beautiful 19th century ANTIQUE Whalebone Ship's Block with Whalebone Grommet and Outstanding Ropework binding

The best single block I have ever seen! Fantastic condition, color, patina and ropework binding. Length: 8" NOTE: This block comes from a long deceased collector from Mattapoisett, MA. This gentleman lived from 1874 until 1940 and was an avid collector a whaling artifacts. He was a director of the Old Dartmouth Historical Society, now known as the New Bedford Whaling Museum, from 1919 to 1940. Many of his objects are on display at the museum. This fine ships' block is being offered for the first time since it was acquired nearly 100 years ago.
