A Beautiful 19th century Sailor-Made Whalebone, Whale Ivory and Inlaid Baleen Cane

Measuring 32" in length, this fine cane is in original condition. The octagonal whale ivory knob has an inlaid abalone star, followed by a wooden spacer, then another piece of whale ivory followed by another wooden spacer. Below that is the round whalebone shaft beginning with 32 inlaid elongated baleen diamonds. after that the shaft is spirally carved to about 3 inches of the base. Overall, this is a very attractive and original sailor-made cane.
