A fine 19th century hand colored steel plate engraving of Whales by William H. Lizars

This lovely engraving is from a series of engravings entitles "The Natural History of Ordinary Whales" published in 1837 by William H. Lizars, a Scottish engraver and painter. The engraving measures 6.5" by 4" and is custom matted. It is one of eight engravings from this series currently in inventory.
