Clemens was born in 1835 and passed away in 1910. He was a steamboat pilot, world traveler and renowned lecturer. Above all he was a skillful novelist. He published TOM SAWYER in 1875 and HUCKLEBERRY FINN in 1885 along with many other famous novels. In 1871 he moved to Redding, Connecticut, right outside of Hartford. The rare original photo graph measures approximately 7" by 8" and was taken of him in his study sometime around 1900.
