Although now missing all of its' instruments, this fine box demonstrates the art of the Box Maker of the early 19th century. The inset brass nameplate has the name "R Shaw" in bold script and the front panels are made of solid brass. The inner lid holds the original removable dressing mirror. When the locking pin is removed, the entire top half of the box swivels, revealing additional fitted compartments for other dressing implements. All things considered, this is quite a sophisticated box worthy of any collector of campaign furniture or elegant boxes! Height 2 3/4", Width 5 1/2", Depth 10".
