A George II Silver Basting Spoon by Richard Scarlett, London 1726

Measuring 13 1/2" long, this fine example is in the Hanoverian pattern with a rat-tail bowl measuring 2 1/2" by 4 3/8". The well-struck hallmarks are sharp and clear. The crest depicts a hawk or an eagle with the motto "FORTIS IN ARDUIS" below. Weight: 5.7 oz.
