A highly detailed and beautiful 19th century scrimshaw whale's tooth circa 1840

One side features a landscape with a man wearing a top hat assisting a woman over a fence. The landscape and figures are outlined with pinpoint work. The reverse side depicts an interior scene with two women gazing at a tabletop vase of flowers. Lovely color and patina. Length: 5.5". Provenance: The Howland Scrimshaw Collection of New Bedford.
