A large oval 19th century 'Four Finger' ANTIQUE Scrimshawed Whalebone 'DITTY" Box

The lid has a charming carved whalebone depiction of a sperm whale. It is attached by a whalebone screw which is quite rare. The back on the box is fully scrimed and depicts a whaling scene with three whale ships and a whaleboat going after a whale. A wonderful untouched whalebone ditty box which has not been on the market for over 100 years. Width: 10" Height: 4 1/4"
