"ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY" was Nelson's last signal on October 21, 1805. This wonderful watercolor and ink drawing of the signal flags used was drawn in 1866 by Rear Admiral George Flower Herbert. He was signal midshipman on board HMS Neptune which followed HMS Victory into action at Trafalgar. On the reverse is a note written by Herbert's daughter Elizabeth Teresa Norton dated 1888 atesting and certifying that her father was indeed signal midshipman and responsible for sending this signal. Beautifully framed and matted measuring 15" square
