A Sailor-Made Whalebone and Whale Ivory Swift Circa 1850

This wonderful 19th century sailor-made whalebone swift is in absolutely original condition with no apparent repairs or restoration. The clamp is made of whale ivory and inlaid with abalone and tortoiseshell. The tightening key is heart shaped and also made of whale ivory. Overall, a very fine example.
