A Wonderful 19th century American Patriotic Scrimshawed Whale's Tooth

This beautifully proportioned tooth measures 6" long by 2 3/4" wide. One side features a spread winged American eagle grasping arrows and an olive branch with an American shield on its chest. A whaleship is depicted below, flying an American flag. The reverse side depicts a monument with a lady's head at the top, with an eagle above. Lovely age patina and slight fading to the ink. Circa 1850.
