An 18th century iron and brass "Game Spit" used for cooking game birds over an open fire

SOLD

This interesting piece of kitchen hardware was probably made in the mid 18th century. It has a sliding arm with wooden handle on one end with a pronged section on the other to hold the bird, chicken or pheasant. There is a brass ring into which a pot would have been placed to catch the drippings, etc. A very unusual piece of cooking equipment from the 18th century.
