An Absolutely Charming American 19th century Sailor-Made Whalebone Pocket Watch case signed "John Almys 1882."

Made in the form of an eight sided casket with lignum vitae fitted corners. The whalebone casket is mounted onto a whalebone plaque cut and pierced with a pair of birds at the top. Each side of the casket is scrimshawed with various plants, trees and a bird with the front depicting a dog standing under a tree. 7" by 4 1/2"
