An attractive 'Liberty' themed 'sag harbor' style scrimshawed whale's tooth depicting a soldier flanked by a pair of cannons with four American flags in the background

First time on the market for nearly 40 years. Sag Harbor (New York) was one of the leading whaling ports of the 19th century. Scriming of whales' teeth continued here into the early part of the 20th century. This tooth probably dates to 1900-1920. Great patina and condition! Length: 7" Width: 3" Weight: over 1 pound.
