An original early 19th century hand colored Botanical aquatint of "The Blue Egyptian Water Lily" by Dr. Robert Thornton, plate 31, printed in 1804.

Dr. Robert John Thornton (1768-1837) published "The Temple of Flora or Garden of Nature" between 1799-1807. He used a host of artists and engravers to produce the 70 large plates of exotic plant species, each specie to appear in its native environment. This beautiful example was published in 1804 and has been framed and matted measuring 27" by 23".
