A Fine and Rare Napoleonic period Ivory Inlaid Rosewood Dominoe Box circa 1795-1815

Possibly made by a French prisoner-of-war this wonderful dominoe box has an inlaid scrimshawed ivory plaque depicting a Naval Officer on the lid. The box also has two compartments with sliding lids, one for dice, the other holding the 29 bone dominoes. From the collection of J. Welles Henderson, author of JACK TAR, A Sailor's Life, 1750-1910, and founder of the Philadelphia Maritime Museum.
