A Massachusetts Military Appointment of Ephraim Goulding to Captain signed by Gov. Caleb Strong on Sept. 11, 1800.

A very well preserved document measuring 15" by 9 1/2". Signed by Caleb Strong and John Avery, Secretary. Goulding was appointed Captain of a Company in the second regiment of Infantry in the second Brigade, Seventh Division of the Massachusetts Militia.
