A RARE 1698 engraving of the EDDYSTONE LIGHTHOUSE, the first lighthouse in the English Channel

In 1696 the designer and builder Henry Winstanley was ridiculed for attempting to build this lighthouse on a small rock 14 miles offshore. He completed the lighthouse two years late in 1698 but died in 1703 trying to save the structure during a massive storm. Framed 25.5" by 20"
