This ingenious pictorial puzzle (rebus) was first printed in 1791, shortly after Franklin died. Engraved at the top is an image of Franklin. He was sent to Paris in 1776 as one of the representatives of the Second Continental Congress. His aim was to seek military and financial aid from France. The rebus is instructive in the positive monetary possibilities of honesty and frugality. This print does have some staining and minor tears outside the margins but is otherwise in good condition. Beautifully framed and matted. The solution to Franklin's rebus is included and is mounted to the back of the frame.
