John Speed's 17th century Map of "West Ridinge of Yorkshyre with the Most famous & fair City of Yorke

Beautifully hand colored and professionally matted and framed, this map was part of Speed's highly regarded atlas entitled "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain" published in the early 17th century. This example was sold by George Humble and John Sudbury and dates to circa 1670. It features the Arms of the Dukes of Yorke as well as an inset map of the City of Yorke. 29 1/2" by 24"
