The mutiny occurred in the South Pacific on April 28, 1789 when acting Lt. Fletcher Christian seized control of the ship from their captain, Lt. William Bligh and set him and 18 loyalists adrift in the ships open launch. Bligh navigated more than 3,500 miles to reach safety and begin the process of bringing the mutineers to justice. This original engraving was published in Ashburton's "History of England" three years after the Mutiny.
