Portrait of Capt. Joseph Woodberry of Beverly, Massachusetts along with his Log Book circa 1825

A rare grouping from American Sea Captain Joseph Woodberry (1795-1883)of Beverly, Massachusetts consisting of a beautiful pastel portrait (12 1/2" by 10 1/4" not counting frame), a log book dated 1825/26 detailing a voyage from Boston to Charleston to Liverpool,England and a letter showing payment for his home in Beverly dated 1835. Capt. Woodberry was a decendent of the "Old Planter" John Woodberry and lived at 36 West Street in Beverly. He married Zilpal Thissel in 1824 and on her death, married Sally Haskell in 1833.
