A 19th century ANTIQUE Whalebone 'Double' Ships' Block with whalebone grommet and fancy ropework

Great condition, color and patina and wonderful fancy ropework. Length: 6". From the estate of a long deceased important collector (1874-1940) of whaling artifacts, many of which are on display at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. This collector was a director of the Old Dartmouth Historical Society, now known at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, from 1919 until his death in 1940. This is the first time in nearly 100 years that this block has been offered for sale.
