A beautiful Whalebone "Whalers' Basket" made by acclaimed Cape Cod artist Ken Campbell

This wonderful "Whalers" basket is made completely out of antique whalebone. The staves are in the form of oars and the rope-twist whalebone handle terminates with hands clutching the oars. The maple burl base is inset with a whalebone whaling scene with whale ship, whale boat, harpooner and whale. The basket is supported by tiny whalebone feet in the shape of whale oil casks typically seen aboard whale ships. This piece is one of a kind and worthy of any scrimshaw collection.
