A fantastic large 19th century scrimshaw whale's tooth circa 1840

Depicts a fully rigged ship under full sail. The ship's bowsprit wraps around the edge of the tooth. Excellent color and patina. Length: 7.75". Provenance: The Mitttler Collection. Illustrated in Nina Hellamn's book, figure 60, The Mittler Collection.
