A Fine and large 19th Century American Scrimshawed Whale's Tooth with both sides depicting a whaling ship circa 1850

Fantastic color, patina and overall appearance. Standing height: 5 1/2 ". Lateral length: 6 1/2". Width at base: 3 1/2". Height at base: 1 7/16". Weight: 1 pound 8 1/2 ounces. This tooth was cut so that there is no root cavity. Judging by the existing size of the tooth, the original uncut tooth probably measured nearly 9" with a weight of nearly 2 1/2 pounds.
