The first time these teeth have been on the market since circa 1950. Each measures 4 1/2" and have wonderful original patina and color. One tooth has the pin pricked inscription "Captured June 19, 1869" to signify the date that the whale was taken. The other tooth is inscribed "By S C H and O M Remington." Both teeth are adorned with an American flag at the top and a Federal shield with stars at the base. One tooth has a chip at the base. A very attractive pair from the same whales' jawbone and priced reasonably. Provenance: Richard Smith of Southbridge, Mass., 1894-1986.
