A wonderful 19th century scrimshawed Sperm Whale's Tooth with Shipwreck scene

This large (7" long 1 pound 7 ounce) beautifully shaped scrimshawed sperm whale's tooth depicts a ship being smashed on rocks with waves washing over her. As three men scramble up a cliff face, three other men climb into the tops as the ship begins to sink. On the other side of the rocks one can see the masts of another ship, presumably another wreck. Off in the distance a third ship appears to be floundering. This is a lovely solid and heavy tooth with wonderful original color and patina.
