One of the finest Napoleonic Prisoner-of-War bone game boxes (circa 1810) in existence

The carving on this example is of the highest caliber seen on Prisoner-of War material. The domed sliding lid has a pierced and relief-carved portrait of a female warrior along with a portrait of Napoleon. The lids extended thumb tab is carved in a leaf and flower blossom design. The overhanging top has a cribbage board and fish scale and floral carvings. The box is surmounted by four leaf form finials and raised on matching leaf-form feet, all with traces of the original red and green coloring in the incised lines. The box contains 11 hand cut bone dominoes. Height: 3", Length: 8 1/4", Depth: 3 1/2". This is a remarkable piece done by a master carver.
