Just short of 10" each and weighing 2 pounds 4.5 ounces and 2 pounds 3.5 ounces respectively, this fine pair have remained together since the day the whale was taken back in the mid 19th century. They were partially polished back in the 19th century but never scrimed. The color and patina is magnificent. There are the typical cracks and chips at the base and one tooth has a long hairline running up its' side from the base where the tooth is curled but is barely noticeable. The shape of each tooth is wonderful. Pairs of this size and quality rarely come onto the market. This is clearly a unique opportunity for the scrimshaw collector !!
