Possibly the Most Beautiful pair of 19th century American Whale's Teeth on the Market Today!!

SOLD

In nearly 40 years of collecting and dealing in scrimshaw I have never seen another pair of whales' teeth quite as beautiful as these!! Virtually untouched from the day they were scrimed back in the 1850's. Both depict views of the same whale ship, one with a sailor in the crows' nest looking through a telescope at two whales in the distance. On the reverse side of one is a portrait of John Hancock, Governor of Massachusetts and signer of the Declaration of Independence. The other reverse side shows a beautiful lady wearing a dark green Victorian dress with red appliques. Both teeth measure 6 3/4" and each weigh approximately 1 pound 3 ounces. A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO ACQUIRE A TRUE MUSEUM QUALITY PAIR OF WHALES' TEETH!!
