Whalebone Swift on One-Drawer Stand circa 1850

This elaborate antique sailor-made whalebone swift comes mounted on a walnut one-drawer stand sitting on whalebone feet. The stand appears to be a later replacement and there has been some restoration to the swift (the shaft and approximately six other pieces of the swift are wood painted expertly to match the whalebone). It is also missing the whalebone key used to expand the swift when in use. Despite the above, this is a very attractive piece of sailor art now priced to reflect the restorations.
