Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1726) invented and built the first relecting telescope, along with being perhaps the most respected physicist, mathematician and philopsopher of the late 17th and early 18th century. The engraving was done by J. Houbraken (1698-1780) circa 1720-1730 and appears to be in its' original 18th century frame which measurtes 11" by 16 1/2".
