This rare document is recorded in "The Letters and Papers of the Reign of Henry VIII", part 2 1068 (44). It has an Initial letter Portrait of Henry VIII sitting on his throne. The document is a Royal Letters Patent permitting Thomas Hunting to sell to Walter & Stephen Clerke the manor of Kettlebarston Hall in Sufflok for 619 pounds sterling. The manor was formerly owned by Charles, Duke of Suffolk. The document is written in Latin on vellum and is signed at the bottom by the scribe "Southwell" and recorded by B. Traheron and Thomas Mildmay. The document was written at Westminster 24 December 1545. The Royal wax seal is intact and is attached to the document by green and gold silk cords. There are several small holes where the Royal Seal Box was wrapped up in the document and humidity caused the metal box to rust. There is a small written summary of the document which is inset into the mounting. This is a real piece of English history! It has recently been professional custom framed and matted.
